We have developed the “Old Holland Tour” app on behalf of our public transport company Connexxion. With this app, tourists can make a tour in the Amsterdam region, departing from Schiphol Airport or Amsterdam CS and using the regular bus lines of Connexxion and bus company EBS. The often foreign tourists are offered a “hop-on, hop-or tour” to sights in the surrounding region of Amsterdam, such as the Zaanse Schans, Volendam and Edam. The tourists travel with a special ticket – which can also be purchased via the app – and for a special rate (Old Holland Tour-Ticket or Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket). The tour in the app shows the real-time positions of the buses with all boarding points. The app also shows the most important touristic sights along the way, provides a lot of tourist information and is available in several languages. After the success of the “Old Holland Tour” app, we have developed several other apps for Connexxion Amsterdam.
“Based on the first app, we decided to develop a new app in which we highlight other areas around Amsterdam. In particular, the sub-app ‘Amsterdam Airport Express’ (bus line for tourists from Schiphol to Amsterdam city center) has been worked out incredibly well; the tourist can enter the address of his hotel / accommodation and thus immediately sees at which stop he has to get off, including a walking route. The way in which GoGuide has designed and implemented the apps technically deserves the qualification ‘excellent’. “
